iWork ‘09: First Impressions

Last night, I bought iWork ‘09 from Best Buy, 79.99 USD + tax. Here are some impressions I had when I opened up the programs. These views are coming from a person who hasn’t had any form of work processing on a Mac since AppleWorks.

Do Not Torrent iWork ‘09; Trojans

Don’t torrent iWork ‘09 not just because it’s wrong, but because it has a Mac OS X trojan virus embedded in the program. For anyone who is plagued by this virus here is a quick fix:
1) (open Terminal.app)
2) sudo su (enter password)
3) rm -r /System/Library/StartupItems/iWorkServices
4) rm /private/tmp/.iWorkServices
5) rm /usr/bin/iWorkServices
6) rm -r /Library/Receipts/iWorkServices.pkg
7) killall -9 iWorkServices
