As most of you out there know, Apple will likely be annoucing the release date for their new installment of their operating system, OS X 10.6, more commonly known as Snow Leopard, at WWDC ‘09 in June. With the release of this OS there will come some updates to the ever popular Quicktime Player, which comes standard with all Macs. The newly updated software will allow Quicktime to become more functional to a wider range of users, while transforming into a more aesthetically pleasing application. One of the biggest upcoming features is the ability for users to record their desktops from within Quicktime. Yes, I do understand that there are many screen capture applications on the market at the moment, such as ScreenFlow and iShowU, which can record and make some pretty advanced and eye-catching edits, but some Mac owners may be looking for a powerful, yet free, program that can perform many of the same functions as other screen recorders. Quicktime will soon be able to fulfill the needs of many of these people, including educators, developers, and those who just want to make a tutorial to upload to their YouTube channel. In my opinion, this addition to the Quicktime app can only be beneficial to those who use or need a high quality screen recorder.
