Dell phones rejected by carriers, lack ‘differentiation’

Dell’s first attempts at putting a dent in the cell phone market went out with a bang; as predicted back in January, Dell’s efforts were shot down. Shaw Wu, an analyst at Kaufman Bros, is quoted as saying that essentially, the two Android and WinMo phones were rejected by multiple mobile phone carriers. The reason? The phones lacked uniqueness, and certainly did not stir up any excitement. Most carriers agreed that the phones were two ‘Dell-like’ and lacked any major differences than current HTC, Samsung, or Nokia devices. For now, Dell will have to go back to the drawing board and really design something unique; a forte Dell really isn’t known for. Their current attempts with the Adamo exemplify Dell thinking out of the box; perhaps they can attempt this same mindset with their mobile devices. However, lets try not to burn a hole in our wallets; alright Dell?
