Cable Companies Trying to Destroy Sites Like Hulu

One of the fastest growing websites on the internet today has to be Hulu.com because it offers users the ability to watch free, recent television shows on their computer with just short ads. This has been great for the networks since it gives them chances to pull in more viewers and they don’t lose any ad revenue. The Wall Street Journal is reporting though that the cable networks are getting furious, seeing sites like Hulu as a risk to their business. They have a plan to fix this by locking up the online television streaming industry. By making deals with networks such as NBC and Viacom, they are hoping to create an on demand styled service. The networks would stop providing content to sites like Hulu and instead host on the cable networks streaming sites which you could only access if you are a cable subscriber.

The fact is that overtime, things don’t go away, rather their mediums of delivery change. It’s already begun to happen with news and blogging and now its happening with television and the internet. These cable companies just need to let the evolution occur and stop getting in its way because the more they do this, the more the people will want to be rid of them. We can only hope things continue how they are now and the cable networks don’t win this battle.
