Apple Says Jailbreaking Is Illegal

ziphoneThe Electronic Frontier Foundation has released news that Apple has filed comments with the US Copyright Office stating that the act of jailbreaking your iPhone is a copyright infringement and a DMCA violation, and therefore illegal. They say this because jailbreak applications still use a modified version of Apple’s software and Apple says that is copyright infringement. Apple has not made any legal moves yet but it would be extremely hard for them to go after individual jailbreakers so they are going to target the people or companies that offer software that allow user’s to modify the copyright code. If you buy anĀ  iPhone it should be your right to do what ever you want with it, right? But that does not include modding the OS so that you can play un-registered apps that are not from the app store. It was only a matter of time until Apple did something about this, It was going to get discussed sooner or later. So the best advice would be to not jailbreak your device. Not to mention it makes it run terrible (so I’ve heard).
