Google Latitude - True Social Networking

Other applications and websites have tried to create a social network based on where your friends and family are located such as Loopt. Many of them have failed. As we all know though, Google succeeds in pretty much all they do. So for those of you that loved those other services, finally ones coming that many people might actually use. Google announced a new application based on their Google Maps system called “Latitude.” It lets your friends and family know where your at based on the positioning of their mobile device (Available on Blackberry, S60, and Windows Mobile, and will be available on Android in the next few days. It’s also expected to arrive on the iPhone through the Google Mobile App very soon). It also functions as a google iGadget so you can get the information on your computer. It is completely opt-in based and customizable so that your location is shared only with who you want to share it with. More information can be found here at the
Google Blog.

Here is also a youtube video demonstrating the application.
